If a business exists outside of city limits (ex: South Sioux City, Dakota City, etc.) in Dakota County and wishes to sell Tobacco products from a shelf, they will need to acquire a Tobacco License from the Dakota County Clerk. If the product is sold from a vending machine, then the license is acquired by the company owning the machine.

To apply for a Tobacco License, you must pay a $10.00 fee (annual) to the Dakota County Treasurer (located on the main floor of courthouse). Then, bring the receipt of payment to the Dakota County Clerk's office and we will process the license upon you completing and submitting the following application and delivery of the Treasurer's Receipt.
